How many members are serving at this site? We will have 17 AmeriCorps Members facilitating the institute, managing curriculum, and overseeing college volunteers and high school students. What is your organizations goal at this site? CollegeFirst pairs talented college mentors with promising high school students to strengthen foundational concepts in preparation for the rigor of AP coursework in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language, and Computer Science. Students passing AP exams are three times more likely to earn a college degree than students who do not pass them. Site Spotlight: YWCA After School Enrichment Program

How many members serve at your site: We have two members serving at this site, Skye Blackmon and Kamberlyn Davis. What is your organizations goal at this site? Our goal is to provide after school enrichment to sheltered students. What is something exciting that has happened at this site? The students are close to Summer break, so we are planning a fun “End of the School Year Fun Day” for our students, as well as getting prepared for our 6-week Summer Enrichment Program.”

"I enjoy having the opportunity to make an impact in someone’s life." What is your favorite thing to do when you are not serving? "Spending time with my family and I’m also coach for a city recreational league basketball team of 10-11 year old boys. We played in the State Play-offs in Anniston Alabama and won 2nd Place." How many members are serving at this site? This year we have 3 Teach For America teachers and AmeriCorps members working at R.C. Hatch High School. Kellen Wall and Nicholas Storment are in their second year teaching, and Kara Johnson is in her first year teaching.
