Member Spotlight: Maya Flournoy, Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps Program
Meet Maya Flournoy, TFA Member currently serving with Hudson K-8 School, located in Birmingham, Alabama (Jefferson County). A service site of the Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps program.
Teach For America finds, develops, and supports equity-oriented leaders to transform education and expand opportunity for all children.
What inspired you to serve as a Teach for America/AmeriCorps member? I decided to serve as a member because I wanted to give back to the community and serve in a meaningful way. The impact that school and my teachers had on my life and my future made me the person that I am today, and I wanted to also positively impact today’s young kids.
What are your plans after Teach for America/AmeriCorps? After Teach for America I plan to go back to school and complete a pre medicine post baccalaureate program that will matriculate me into their respective medical school.
Maya, thank you for your service!
