What is your organizations goal at this site?

CollegeFirst pairs talented college mentors with promising high school students to strengthen foundational concepts in preparation for the rigor of AP coursework in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language, and Computer Science. Students passing AP exams are three times more likely to earn a college degree than students who do not pass them. CollegeFirst provides students the opportunity to get a leg up on college and AP curriculum preparation.

What is something exciting that has happened at this site?

We have 135 students from Birmingham-area high schools signed up to attend the institute as well as 22 College Mentors signed up to volunteer. Our AmeriCorps members are busy reviewing content and preparing materials so they can facilitate the sessions and assist the instructors.
