Member Spotlight: Kieasha Riley, AIST Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Kieasha Riley, AIST Member, currently serving with the Georgiana School, a service site of the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?

I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I wanted a more hands-on position with students. Serving in AmeriCorps will allow me to be a positive role model for students in their everyday lives.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?

I want to use this opportunity to get experience in the classroom and the school system.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?

My service will engage students in one-on-one and instructional assistance to help students meet or exceed individual developmental growth targets resulting in an increase (5% gain) in standardized test scores in reading and or/math.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?

After AmeriCorps, I plan to become an Elementary teacher.
