Meet Deandre Lee, Tutor/Mentor, currently serving with Valley Creek Community Center, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?
I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I wanted to help people. Currently, as a third-year member, AmeriCorps has helped me learn many skills and ways to provide meaningful service.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?
This program has allowed me to work with the community. I have gained computer literacy and life skills.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?
During this program year, my service will focus on K-12 Education and Community Improvement. I will assist with the food share program to provide needed service to the community.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?
My plans after AmeriCorps will focus on continuing to serve with youth. I plan to further my education and study to receive my CDL license and become a truck driver delivering needed supplies to communities.
Thank you for your service Deandre!
