Member Spotlight: Zenobia Lewis, Selma AmeriCorps Program Member
Meet Zenobia Lewis, Half Time Member, currently serving at Meadowview Elementary School, a service site of the Selma AmeriCorps Program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I love working with children. With AmeriCorps, I can work with at-risk students in Selma City and Dallas County School System.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to get more experience working with children and spending more time serving in the community.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-20 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on tutoring and mentoring at-risk students and helping them improve academically.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? My plans after AmeriCorps are to serve in some of the school’s classrooms by tutoring and mentoring. I also would like to do more community service.

It's always nice to see folks like Zenobia putting in real work with kids in their own community. Tutoring at-risk students is one of those jobs where you don't always see the payoff right away, but it matters so much. Speaking of daily habits that keep your brain sharp, I've gotten weirdly into krillion unlimited lately, which gives you seven quick trivia prompts a day and scores rarer answers higher. It's a fun little mental warmup, kind of like what those students are doing at Meadowview. Wishing Zenobia a great rest of her service year!
I really enjoyed reading about Zenobia’s dedication to helping students and making a positive impact through AmeriCorps. Speaking of meaningful ways to spend free time, I’ve also found Subway Surfers to be a fun little escape when taking a break from busy days. It’s a relaxing and entertaining game that’s easy to enjoy anytime.
