Member Spotlight: Monica Musgrave, TFA-Alabama AmeriCorps member

Meet Monica Musgrave, serving with the Teach For America Alabama AmeriCorps program. She serves as a 6th grade social studies teacher at Green Acres Middle School in Birmingham, Alabama.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because it is a way to make a lasting impact within my country.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to grow in the areas of compassion, patience, and professionalism. I would also like to be able to say that I helped students achieve more than they believed they could.

What will your service focus on for the 2018-2019 program year? I want to provide students with valuable instruction that will ultimately empower them to succeed.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? My plans after AmeriCorps is to either go into the Peace Corps, teach English abroad under a Fulbright grant, or enter into a public policy graduate program.

Thank you for your service Monica!
