We will have 12 AmeriCorps Members facilitating the institute, managing curriculum, and overseeing college volunteers and high school students.

What is your organizations goal at this site?

CollegeFirst pairs talented college mentors with promising high school students to strengthen foundational concepts in preparation for the rigor of AP coursework in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Language, and Computer Science. CollegeFirst provides students the opportunity to get a leg up on college and AP curriculum preparation.

What is something exciting that has happened at this site?

We have 51 students from Tuscaloosa-area high schools signed up to attend the institute as well as 32 College Mentors signed up to volunteer from the University of Alabama. Our AmeriCorps members are busy reviewing content and preparing materials so they can facilitate the sessions and assist the instructors.
