Meet Nicole Lujan, Elementary Teacher, currently serving with Greensboro Elementary School, a service site of the Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps program.
1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?
I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I want to see different parts of our country, but not just for leisure. The AmeriCorps program inspired me to immerse myself in a new community by serving.
2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?
I would like to see my students gain the confidence and skills to excel in future grades.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?
My service will focus on empowering and educating young children. Also, I will help them discover their strengths and passions.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?
After AmeriCorps, I plan to pursue a career as an employee for the Elementary School I served with during my AmeriCorps time. In closing, I know that I want to see my current 2nd graders graduate from elementary school.
