Member Spotlight: Kennedy Boutwell, AIST Alabama AmeriCorps Program

Meet Kennedy Boutwell, AIST Member, currently serving with the Greenville Middle School, a service site of the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps?

I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because I enjoy providing direct service to children and shaping little minds. I feel like AmeriCorps is a great learning opportunity in the classroom.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity?

I want to be directly involved with providing direct service. Also, I want to give back to my community and network along the way.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2021-2022 program year?

During this program year, my service will focus on engaging students in one-on-one and instructional assistance to help students meet or exceed individual developmental growth targets resulting in an increase (5% gain) in standardized test scores in reading and or/math.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps?

After AmeriCorps, I plan to return to serve a third year while finishing school.
