Meet Brittany Hamner, High School English Teacher, currently serving with Woodlawn High School, a service site of the Teach for America Alabama AmeriCorps program.
1. What will your service focus on this year?
This year my service will focus on cultivating relationships in the classroom and inspire them to have a passion for learning.
2. What inspired you to serve as an AmeriCorps member?
Being able to have a network to meet new people inspire me to serve as an AmeriCorps Member. The support I receive on a day-to-day basis is very positive.
3. What advice would you give someone interested in serving with your AmeriCorps State program?
Create a community of support with diverse backgrounds. You never know when you may need extra help down the line and AmeriCorps is that extra family in your life.
