Meet Emily Yates, currently serving at SAFE Family Service Center, with the Alabama Network of Family Resource Centers AmeriCorps program.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was motivated to join AmeriCorps because this program has provided an incredible platform for members to directly respond to community needs. I am privileged to be a returning member. My first year of service was so rewarding.
2. What would you like to get from this service opportunity? I would like to grow as a leader in my community. I am eager to apply lessons learned during my first term of service so I can truly grow as a member. I am excited to gain new responsibilities and serve as an asset to my program.
3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-2020 program year? During this program year, my service will focus on education. I serve through the Bridges after-school program at the SAFE Family Service Center.
4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to enroll in a master’s program for Human Resources. My goal is to gain employment in the Birmingham area and work up to become Director of Human Resources. I plan to use my experience as an AmeriCorps member to help develop an organization’s presence in community outreach.
Thank you for your service, Emily!
