Member Spotlight: Jessica Chang, Client and Volunteer Coordinator

Meet Jessica Chang. Jessica serves with the Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps program with the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I had been volunteering with a non-profit organization prior to joining AmeriCorps. I wanted to continue my commitment to public service and serving those in need.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I hope to further my professional and social skills to help transition into the next chapter of m y life as well as grow as an individual through this service opportunity.

What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? My service will focus on assisting volunteer attorneys with intake, outreach, and communication strategies for low-income individuals and families in need of legal assistance.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to continue pursuing my goal of becoming an attorney and plan on taking the Alabama State Bar Exam next year.
