AmeriCorps Program: For the past 20 years, the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team (AIST) has successfully ensured a brighter future for Butler County's rural under-challenged students through classroom instructional assistance. The AmeriCorps members focus their efforts on school readiness and improving academic performance for thousands of pre-k through eighth grade students.
Goals and Objectives of the Program: AIST provides early intervention services to pre-school children in order for them to enter kindergarten well-prepared. Members in K-12 assist in activities with students to help improve academic performance in literacy and/or math.
Responsibilities of the AmeriCorps Members: Members tutor students in all public Title I pre-school (i.e. Bright Beginnings) through 12th grade during the instructional day and in after school programs in both public schools and community locations. The impact of this objective not only allows under-challenged students to be served, but also provides great community collaboration.
