Mary Beth Harrison - Teach for America

Why did you join AmeriCorps? A few years ago I decided that I wanted to dedicate my life to somehow serving others, doing something bigger than myself, [and] that's when I decided to apply for Teach For America. I was introduced to it after I studied abroad, and I knew that it would work out if it was meant to be.

What is your favorite part of national service? I think giving back to our country is a way to not only help out our American brothers and sisters, but also remind ourselves what a wonderful place we live in.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not serving/working? I love to play golf, run, go hiking, eat, and play with my puppy.

What is your favorite snack? Nerds Candy.

What is your favorite soda? Diet Coke.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? After I finish my commitment with Teach For America, I plan to continue teaching.
