Member Spotlight: Cordarius Longmire, AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team Member

December 27, 2019

Meet Cordarius Longmire, currently serving at Greenville High School, in the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team.

1. What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I was in search of purpose in my community. I knew that I wanted to teach and be a positive influence on the lives of the youth in my community. With that, AmeriCorps became a very clear option for me.

2. What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? I would like to get teaching experience out of this opportunity. Also, understanding how to effectively manage a class and to help students.

3. What will your service focus on for the 2019-2020 program year? I will be providing direct support to economically disadvantaged students in order to improve performance in core academic subjects as measured by pre-and post-standardized tests to demonstrate improved academic performance.

4. What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to have my Bachelors in Psychology and English. I want to have my own classroom at Greenville High School as a teacher.

Thank you for your service, Cordarius!
