AmeriCorps State Information and Application Workshop

The state of Alabama has awarded funding each year for AmeriCorps State programs and is excited to fund new opportunities for the 2020-21 program year. AmeriCorps is a National Service program that helps meet community needs through the efforts of AmeriCorps members. The AmeriCorps State program offers funding to meet the needs of various agencies and communities.

The Governor’s Office of Volunteer Services is announcing a series of workshops for the upcoming 2020-2021 Alabama AmeriCorps State grant competition. Currently, AmeriCorps members serving in Alabama provide instructional assistance, tutor at-risk youth; run after-school programs; lead youth in physical education activities; provide capacity-building services to increase the effectiveness of Alabama nonprofit organizations; coordinate efforts to provide affordable housing; conduct inspections and environmental watch activities to help ensure clean water, clean air and healthy communities in Coastal Alabama; and provide job readiness and assistance in developing resiliency in youth. Potential applicants may do similar activities or use members to address other identified needs in their community.

Application materials are currently not available at this time. As material becomes available (this includes the Letter of Intent that is required for new applicants and highly recommended for continuation and recompete programs), it will be listed in the Funding Opportunities section of the Governor’s Office of Volunteer Services at www.servealabama.gov.
