Member Spotlight: Christina Massenburg, Instructional Assistant

Meet Christina Massenburg, she serves with the AmeriCorps Instructional Support Team at the Georgiana School.

What motivated you to join AmeriCorps? I wanted to work with disadvantaged kids who need an extra push. I love watching the kids grow and learn. It helps me to help them grow and learn.

What would you like to get out of this service opportunity? To learn new things each day as I continue working with kids. I want to go back to school and become a teacher.

What will your service focus on for the 2017-18 program year? Providing direct support to economically disadvantaged students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade in order to improve performance in core academic subjects as measured by pre- and post- standardized tests. We provide direct support to the children to improve their skills in performance.

What are your plans after AmeriCorps? I plan to go to college and get my degree to become a teacher.

Thank you for your service Christina!
