This year's Citizen Corps Conference is a
great opportunity for local Citizen Corps
Councils, disaster volunteers, fire service, law enforcement, Emergency Management personnel,
Alabama Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (ALVOAD), Interfaith Networks, Volunteer Centers, and National
Service Partners (AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve, and Senior Corps) to learn
about Alabama Citizen Corps and related programs.
Attendees will learn
about the following:
- The importance of coordinated
volunteers in the nation’s/state’s homeland security
strategy
- The state of preparedness in Alabama
- Collaborating with volunteer
organizations
- Partnering with faith-based
communities
- Best practices in recruitment,
volunteer recognition, training, and programming
- Helping the specials needs and
disabled population before, during, and after a disaster
This is a chance to network with fellow Council members,
State and National representatives, and non-profit leaders,
while learning how to begin, improve, or expand your volunteer
programs!
