14, 2006- Be Ready Day-Huntsville, Alabama
"Be Ready Day," an annual statewide
community preparedness event, will be held on September 14,
2006, in Huntsville, Alabama. Attendees will receive education
and training on ways to prepare for disasters and emergencies,
learn of volunteer opportunities in their communities, and have
the opportunity to observe first responders demonstrating their
preparedness and response capabilities.

16, 2006-CERT Disaster Exercise-Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Citizen’s Corps
will be conducting its first
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
disaster exercise on Saturday September 16th at the
Alabama State Fairgrounds Arena. This event will provide an
opportunity for C.E.R.T members in our
area to utilize their skills and be more prepared for an actual
event. The exercise will focus in the areas of Incident command,
Search and Rescue, Triage, Fire Suppression and Cribbing. The
Jefferson County Citizen’s Corps council would like to invite
and encourage everyone who has completed this training or has an
interest in the C.E.R.T program to participate in this important
community event. We are also seeking volunteers including
actors to serve as victims, make up artists and others
interested in assisting with the event.

September 24, 2006, has been designated “Be Ready Sunday” in
Alabama. Faith-based organizations are encouraged to include
preparedness materials in their bulletins and newsletters, post
preparedness information on their websites, and speak to their
congregations on the need to prepare. |
